The artist, Katie de Ruiz, now middle aged and a bit boring, spent her early adult years birthing three babies and helping other women birth their babies. She attended seminary in an expensive attempt to reconcile the intersection of injustice with divine love. Now she grows mangos in the tropics of Central America. She began painting, an old love, out of necessity to process life which is both tragic and joy-filled. In short, she paints what she loves and lives which involves the ever encroaching jungle that surrounds her, the animals on her farm, and the Hebrew Psalms.
